I want to thank my guest mom Teri for joining me on my podcast yesterday! She was a little nervous to do it but she jumped in with both feet and did a wonderful job! I appreciate her going outside of her comfort zone and trying something new. Now she wants to do it again. I have several moms lined up over the next few weekends. I am happy that you guys are giving me a chance. You will find once you do it it’s a lot of fun. What’s better then drinking some wine and chatting with a girlfriend…
We talked about how crazy our days are as a mom and all that we do for our kids every day. How crazy life can get with all the sporting activities and when you have more than one kid times it by how ever many you have. It becomes a lot and takes over your life. The activities go from one hour a week when they are toddlers to practices maybe two nights a week and a game on the weekend to practice almost every evening and games all weekend long. When did that happen? How did I become the car pool for my kids activities and heaven help us if we have more than one kid and you have to be at multiple activities at once. One kid is always feeling left out – you went to my sister’s games more than mine or you watch my brother more than me. You can’t win and even when you are there if you just happen to look down at your phone and miss something well you never hear the end of it. I’m the kind of mother that picks activities that don’t run my life yet but I know it’s coming. Every year they get older they want to do more things and that requires more of a commitment FROM ME… Now, I know a lot of parents do it because they think their kid might get an athletic scholarship but those are few and far between. But for some it pays off. Like my boyfriend whose son plays lacrosse. He has been playing since he was little and works his butt off. He was accepted to West Point this year! All that hard work paid off for him and all the lost weekends, travel time and practices for his dad paid off. But the activities just scratch the surface what about all the homework you have to help you kids do when they are in elementary school. NEW MATH need I say more. What’s wrong with old math it still gives me the same answer but with a lot less steps. I wasn’t crazy about doing my homework the first time around and now I am doing it all over again with my little ones. Most days its fine but when it’s challenging with all the book reports and projects it gets to be a lot. But I know I only have my kids for so long before God willing they go off to college so I am going to enjoy it while I can…
